What it takes

Dig it once, dig it right.

Excavation is where the expensive mistakes hide - a hit utility line, a footing in the wrong soil, spoil with nowhere to go. Here is how we keep those off your job.

What we dig

Footings and foundations, crawlspaces and basements, utility trenches for water, sewer, power and drainage, building and equipment pads, ponds, and culvert crossings. If it needs to be dug, shaped or backfilled with the right iron, it is our work.

We locate before we dig - every time

Before a bucket touches the ground we call in utility locates (811) and confirm what is buried where. Hitting a gas, power, water or fiber line is dangerous and expensive, and it is entirely avoidable. This is not a corner we cut, ever.

Soil and rock change the plan - you will know

Clay holds water and moves; sand caves; rock has to be broken. What is under your site drives both the method and the price, and you cannot always see it from the surface. When we hit something that changes the job, you hear about it before it changes the bill - not after.

Where the dirt goes

The soil we dig out - the spoil - has to go somewhere: hauled off, spread and graded on site, or stockpiled to backfill once the work below is done. We plan that up front so you are not left with a mud pile in the yard or a surprise haul-off charge.

FAQ

Straight answers.

Do you work with builders on new construction?
Yes — builders and GCs use us for footings, utilities and site prep. See our For Builders page.
Can you handle utility trenching?
Yes — water, sewer, electric and drainage trenching, coordinated with your utilities.
What if you hit rock?
If we hit rock, we tell you up front and re-quote that portion — no surprise line items.
Can you balance the site so I'm not hauling dirt?
Yes — cut-and-fill balancing keeps material on site where it makes sense.
How is excavation priced?
Flat-rate after a site walk and scope — never hourly guesswork.
Do you call in utility locates before digging?
Always. We file the 811 locate request and confirm every buried line before we dig. It is free, it is the law, and it is the single most important step in keeping an excavation safe.
What happens if you hit rock?
Rock changes the method - from digging to breaking - and the price. We flag the likelihood on the site walk where we can, and if we hit unexpected rock we stop and talk numbers with you before pressing on. No silent overruns.
What do you do with all the dirt you dig out?
Your call: we can haul it off, spread and grade it on site, or stockpile it to backfill once the below-grade work is finished. We settle that in the quote so there are no surprises.
How deep can you trench or dig?
For typical residential footings, utilities and drainage, well within reach of our machines. Deeper or trench-safety-regulated digs get planned for shoring and slope. Tell us the depth and we will tell you straight whether it is a standard dig or a specialty one.
Do you handle footing and foundation excavation?
Yes - footings, foundations, crawlspaces and pads, dug to your builder plans and left ready for the concrete or foundation crew. We coordinate grade and elevation so the next trade is not fixing our dirt.
